Meet the Players

Defender Stuart Balmer was the Bully Wee's first signing for this season. The experience centre back, has also been appointed as Billy Reid's assistant manager for this season. After beginning his career at Celtic, he played most of his career in England, most notably at Charlton Athletic. Despite looking shaky in several pre season games, he was a standout player in yesterday's 2-1 win over Partick Thistle.

Clyde's second signing of the summer was Gary Arbuckle. The young striker turned down moves to Motherwell, Coventry and even Scandinavia to sign for the Bully Wee after an impressive trial spell, which included a goal against Macclesfield. The ex-Celtic player has shown impressive dribbling skills and also shows plenty of strength when on the ball. Considering he is only 20, Arbuckle can only improve.

Aron Wilford, the ex-Lincoln player, is another young striker who will trouble defences this season. A decent game against Livingston earned him a contract, and he followed that up with a good display against Partick. A tall striker with good ball control, Wilford will be a valuable asset.

The experienced Darren Sheridan is a left footed defensive midfielder. The 36 year old belies his small stature with all action performances and he has already struck up a good partnership with Jimmy Gibson. The balding midfielder, signed from Oldham Athletic, gives experience to a young Clyde team.

Clyde's only other signing is Gary Bollan, a player with the distinction of having played in Europe with 4 clubs, namely Rangers, St Johnstone, Livingston and Dundee Utd. An experienced leftback, who can also play in the centre, Bollan will give power and know-how to the Clyde side. Bollan signed for Clyde from Motherwell on Friday and after a shaky start, settled in well against Thistle.
